Featured Pages from the Middle Ages

Thanks for all the help and information about the old books i posted. Im starting to go through the binders of Woodcuts/Manuscript and would like to share some of it with you all. Im still trying to wrap my head around this!? Ive been going out to sales and scooping up all kinds of frames so these images arent buried in these binders anymore. Ill be posting more as I continue to go through them.

The woodcut with the ships is a Dutch description of the battle of Las Salinas in 1538.

The book with the intricate borders is a Book of Hours, printed in Paris in the 1st quarter of the 16th century. Very similar to pages in my collection:

The man on the horse is probably from a German book around 1550 and shows emperor Charles V of the Holy Roman Empire.

 

The book of the horse rider is a bit later than I thought. It is Jost Ammand's Wappen- & Stammbuch (1589).

The wood cut with Ave Maria is from a book called "Rosario della gloriosa Vergine Maria" by Alberto da Costella 1564 in Venice

The part of the book with the woodcuts is a German hagiography/martyrology (description of Saints or martyrs). It is probably a late incunabula (1455-1500) or early post-incunabula(1501-1530). I can not find a good match so far.

 

The manuscript with the number 9 written to it, looks to me like a Vulgate Bible, manufactured in Paris, around 1250 AD.
