    Hi All,
I love the lady on this pin, 2 1/2" x 2 1/4" - what age do you think this would be? 1920s maybe? Written on the back, 'my mother, dear Jones Taylor Wall or maybe Wallace', no maker marks anywhere, painted on porcelain
    any information appreciated
    thanks for looking:)

Lovely! Does that say Dear Jones Taylor Wall ?
Maybe someone with better eyesight and an ancestry type of account can help here?

sorry anti, I should have included that information - yes, that is what it says:)

Not sure if it says "Wall" because it looks like they ran out of horizontal space and added more letters up the contour.

thanks sabre123, you have good eyes:) I had another look, (easier to see in the photo than the actual piece) and you could be correct, so maybe the last word is 'Wallace'?

Are you sure it isn't Jane Taylor Wallace? (A photo with the pin open may help.)
The "a" in Jane does seem look like an "o" but so does the "a" in Wallace... and perhaps what appears to be an "s" at the end of Jane/Jone is just a random squiggle. Whoever wrote it didn't have the steadiest hand, LOL.
Gorgeous little pin, I love personal items such as this!

Love this pin! Nicely done, and so fun she has glitzy rhinestone jewelry on... the stars in the background, etc. Really a fun piece. Cool that there is an inscription on the back, too.

Not sure about dating, but thinking 1920s/30s is a good bet.

One of a kind obviously... I haven't gotten too many pieces like this so wait for others.

19 teens from the clasp and hair.

Could it be be Dean Jones? Last bit looks like Woll... to me.

I regularly see brooches made with miniatures on porcelain because people tend to call them cameos. Certain ones I see repeatedly. I do not recall ever seeing this one, so may not be a mass produced item.

    I don't think it's mas produced either, I tihnk it's a commissioned portrait.

It is a beauty, cx, and so personal too, very endearing.
Agree. The 'angelic' style of the painting is of that period too, a remnant of the Belle Epoque style of painting. The necklace could easily have come from the ethnic inspired fashion of the later German Jugendstil years.

1917 hairstyles, much like dear Jane/June/Jones has, they loved their curling irons:

thanks for all the replies folks:)

sorry about that, I don't know why I didn't take a photo with the pin open, my only excuse is my head is muddled as I'm not sleeping much. Will take the photo once I find my camera, sigh, it is going to be one of those days:confused:

I did some searching and couldn't find others of her so I thought a one of a kind or commissioned piece too:) Maybe as a gift for an anniversary or birthday? Or maybe as a remembrance piece?

thanks AJ:) I wonder how long it took to do their hair:)

I've added the photo above, looks like Jones to me:)

Bronwen, yes, it could be Dean instead of Dear:)
