A lot of these things are modern souvenirs. Not to say they can't be old, but the odds are against it. They are frequently painted on pages out of old books, so the paper can be a lot older than the painting.

Yes does explain the dodgy text. Would explain the vast price range too. Being able to judge the age of the gouache would assist in dating the actual art. I'd say mine looks quite fresh.

 

This used to happen, you will also find it on old stamp papers etc. More to attract tourist ware.

I cant comment on how old it is, but to me the dimensions seem off. This pictures The 3Dness of rooms and other sharp edges - seem off proportion wise. In other works is far superior. Also the clothes are also always more ornate.

If you see his legs, they are blobs of pink. not finished work.

Muraqqa seems to be the term for the album. Although not found many results using this. There's a black and white one on eBay

i picked up a large hunting scene one yesterday, only £3 as stated (local auction)as a framed picture
