I bought these two watercolours about three years ago. They both seemed like a reasonable standard and I do like watercolours. It took me a week or so to decipher the guillot part. The cathedral spires looked spanish to me. I did Spanish at school and I think my knowledge of that helped unlock the double L, then the rest of it fell into place. I put this into find art info, my holy grail of artists names and... nothing relevant. I was lay in bed one Sunday morning last year and just decided to google "guillot watercolour" and there in was. The signature on my paintings. Javier Varela Guillot. I think the cathedral is in Santiago. The coastal scene I am unsure of. They are of strange construction with glass on front and rear then taped up. Perhaps to keep out water and other nasty things.

The first does appear to be Santiago de Compostela. (There are 10 places in Spain called "Santiago." Helpful to use full name to avoid confusion.)

So both may very well be scenes of Galicia.

It is also Galicia, those raised granaries that look like miniature houses are typical of Galicia. A river scene rather than a coastal scene I think.

Galicia - The land of a thousand rivers. From Google. Might struggle finding the actual location

Yes, think it would be difficult to locate the second scene. If it helps, the artist lived in both Allariz and Oleiros (where he died.)
