Parian bloke

    So, who is he? Says JW 693 and that's a Victorian maker, but blowed if I can make out his name. Best bet is something like GAGER ARRIS....

    And that, of course, makes no sense!

    Helpest thou my confusion. JW is impressed into the back of the figure. Where is GAGER ARRIS coming from?

    Is this the same maker, do you think?

    Yes, sorry, it's the base photo, that second one. No sign of anything missing from his paw! I'd absolutely think same maker as the Skinner's one.

    it is. I'll see if I can get a better shot, but it's tricksy. He's a bt cleaner now, though.

    For this, cleaner may not be better. When I need to read a signature cut into the white part of a cameo, I spread cocoa lightly over the area, brush/blow away what I can from the surface. It can work really well. Even seller, who has sharper eyes than I do, was unable to read the signature on this piece. With the cocoa trick:
