    So Sorry @Bronwen if my intended Compliment came off appearing somehow otherwise. I was opposing your statement of “poorly founded impression”
    I wasn’t very clear. Sorry again if anyone misunderstood what I meant.
    I would like to make that clear.

    It had the back refurbished, that's why it is more modern:)

    Think you are most likely correct. What my just-before-bedtime eyes & brain see is often different, & less accurate, than what the see the next morning. I thought I was seeing greyish faceted stones, but cropping & enlarging image, can see they could well be pearls, & pearls seem more suitable to me.

    I think this looks closer than pearls for sure. It appears he was trying to give the impression of gemstone in the chain.
