Please help me in Identifying this early Pinocchio doll. I received it when my 92 year old Aunt (1931-2023) passed away. She said that it was her childhood toy. All the pieces are intact (although somewhatbeat up), bend where they are supposed to and the clothing is original. I am wondering if it is an early Disney toy.

Hi, Bill! What does it say on the back of his neck? I see writing there and that's a very common place for manufacturer's marks.

The film was released in 1940 so the dates fit. And the costume is correct.

The only other photo I found of Pinocchio with markings similar to yours, was the following. Book Modern doll collector, (4th) by Pat Smith. The initials are different, and this one states it's also marked on its back. pinocchio2.jpg

Hey @judy! They are similar, aren't they? The Knickerbochers had yellow gloves, and side glance eyes.
