This is a pic of the lock plate of the flintlock rifle I posted about in metalware. I’m curious about the carriage and occupant depicted. What’s the story on the figurehead on front of carriage? Could that be an uncomplimentary portrait of ‘ole Louie himself? Is he the occupant depicted, or could that be Ms. Louie? I haven’t done a spec of research on Louis yet so pls forgive the uninformed questions. The catalog description is apparently not yet available.

You could be right. She seems to have her hand on the brake.
Maybe @Bronwen has come across it.

The crescent moon on top of her head says it is Diana, goddess of the hunt. Her 'car' is unusual, more like this one, driven by the Genius of Diana:

With the stag ahead of her, it all adds up to a firearm that was used for hunting. :writer::turtle::happy:

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

The figurehead on the carriage though almost looks like a 'court jester' face........
