Hi everyone! I am very happy that I found this forum! There are so many interesting things here and so many people who shares my passion to antique things! One day I hope to be an nexpert as well, but in so far I need your help with this jewelry box, I was told that it is pewter but it’s so heavy, it also has a hallmark, but it’s only half left. If anyone had ever seen something similar please let me know! Will be much appreciated! The mark looks like a crowned horse head and like a knight chess piece.

    I'm going with Metalars, Italy.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Many of the Metalars items I'm finding online are made of pewter, so that's another clue.

"Peltro" is pewter in Italian, I'm pretty sure.

It's possible I should have mentioned that I found the mark on the old "pewter marks" site -- the tankards/flagons one pinned on the first page of this forum's metalware section.
