Featured Please help with age/origin of cameo bracelet

Hello, it's been a while since I've looked for help from all you lovelies and I hope all is well. I actually have 2 pieces that I hope someone help with and will put the other in a separate post.

I have this lovely little shell cameo bracelet. It is 6 inches and has a clasp that I have not seen before. It does have finish loss on the back near the clasp but no greenies. If anyone can help with age and origin, I would appreciate it. Thank you for looking.

 

It's on the bitty side, so I'd be thinking 1930s. The patterning on the clasp would likely not have been done later. It's too bad we don't have a patent number to reseach. It would only tell us who made the clasp, but patents tell us most likely when dunnit. is there anything under the gunk ? The "female" end is filthy.

 

Thanks for looking evelyb30. No marks anywhere. I think the chain is called a "tank tread" and used in the '30's and 40's. Please correct me if that is isn't right.

 

It does looks like a variation on the "Tank Track" links and I agree on the age.

@Bronwen has said that "corsage lady" became ubiquitous in the 1930s.

 

And Bronwen still says so. But she did not disappear the moment the 30s ended; we see her into the 50s. This is a page from a 1941 catalogue:



I'm more fascinated by the design of Lizzie's bracelet than by the cameo itself. Really quite elaborate for "fashion" jewellery.

I have 6" wrists. If you don't want it, I'll be happy to dispose of it for you.

I've gotten good prices on some pre-owned watches due to small straps/bracelets.

 

The shell cameo would have been cut in Italy, probably in the Naples area, but most likely exported as part of a batch for use in jewellery made elsewhere. My best (uneducated) guess is that it was made in the US. There may be other opinions.

 

I am 5 inches with slim fingers as well. I believe it’s why an aunt gave me her jewelry. I was the only one who it fit.

 

You could actually wear some Victorian cuff bracelets I have met. I'm not a small person. Before age took me down I was nearly 5' 10" in height. I always feel like I have the forearms of a tyrannosaurus rex.

 

lol. My final adult height was 5’8”, I am now a bit over 5’7”.5, long limbs. My grandkids who have parents 6’5” & 6’something will surpass them at the rate they grow. My granddaughter at 13 is taller than me. My 11 year old grandson is taller than her our baby who is 7 he will be the tallest we think.
