Please id this Friar with chalice, painted on porcelain

If you love it enough to research it for long enough, I'm sure you'll find the answer. I've had pieces I've gotten "stuck" on before, so I understand the inclination.

If you want to know because you think knowing the answer will change the value... I would not spend the effort.

 

I do not care about its value, I am only very attracted to this painting, and I would have liked to know more about it for my personal pleasure, and not for its value.
It is there, hanging on the wall, and unfortunately I understand that I will remain stuck with my questions. Thank you for your time, you do not have to spend time wasting on me.

 

I think this was a language miscommunication. I was recommending against YOU spending the effort -- because it won't increase the value.

Research because you love a thing knows no bounds, research when you need a return on your investment does.

the subject is so generic, so better do as Jivvy says. it's not directly kitsch, tinnef or so, but most of these paintings were made in the middle of the 19th century for homesick people that were forced into the cities by the industry.
