Featured pottery scottie dog bookends

can anyone gauge an age for these bookends, i dont really mind the damage, kind of suits them.

Couldnt resist for 25p each, and i like they way they come together

i cant decide if they are real cheapio kitschy things or a bit older.

do you reckon handmade ?

no marks, and cant find similar ones

any thoughts appreciated

 

I think they'll be a hard sell with the damage. Not realistic enough, not kitschy enough, not old enough, to pull in the buyers. Hope I'm wrong.

I think they are probably Japanese 1930s
Do they appear to be painted chalkware (like plaster of Paris)

thanks cc, yeah chalkware does make sense with the mondo breakage, i jusy stuck a pin in a breakage point and it goes in quite easily, so chalkware it is !
