I don't think it is recent.
Japan? 1930s?
Wrong color clay for Mexico.
Just throwing out thoughts, don't really know.

 

Looks like a jug from Provence, southern France. Right style, colour clay and green glaze. Possibly 60s-70s.

Don't know about France... The confit pieces I've seen usually have somewhat dreepy and glossy glazes. Here the green color is quite even besides the parts that were left uncovered. And the surface is gritty but can't show good in the pictures. Also, there seems to be a creamy glaze on the interior and under the green. Is all that common for pottery from the Provence?
For some reason I'm ruling out Japan as well.

 

I would rule out Japan as well. It has a European feel.

There are so many potteries in France, and especially in Provence. Execution depends on the specific location and the manufacturer.

 

Any time I see those applied dots to the bottom like this, I have to consider the pot being modern decorative ware from China. I know that someone could have applied them to an old piece but it at least needs to be considered. Does that staining on the bottom scrub off?
