Hi all. I had to take a break from the gilded nightmare so I thought Id research this one. Of course google images gave me *#*& ,so here I am. This is 15 inches tall,6 wide at the base, and honestly,I bought it because it was brown unlike most one sees that is multi colored. And I liked how funky her feet look ! new ? Old? In between?Always appreciate your comments and help.

The plunging neckline is umm unusual. Not entirely sure
    what that implies.

I don't think the curved oblong "white area" from her chin to her waist(?) is her skin, unless she has two "ornaments" directly attached to her chest/skin. ;)

I think it may be "almost" like a "bib" as she is "nursing" her young offspring.

Guan Yin - Goddess of Mercy
My first reaction to the bottom was maybe 1960s.
Then took a closer look at the muddy brown with green. Now thinking that maybe the last 20 years would be more likely. China import?

    Beautiful. And I agree, Guanyin.
She isn't, she was originally a he, and the child is not hers/his.;)
Guanyin is the Chinese version of Boddhisattva Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezi in Tibetan), the Buddha aspect of compassion. In China Avalokiteshvara was blended with a local pre-Buddhist female deity with a similar meaning.
The child is proof of his/her protective nature towards humankind, and a particular story which I can't remember now.
