I know it's an antique but how old? I have seen some dating back to the 1700's. Based on other pieces I've found, I'm thinking this one dates from the early to mid 1800's maybe up to 1875. It is big, 26" long, just shy of 6" wide and 5 3/4" tall and very heavy. Thank you.

    Hi,
I think it is older than that. The nail heads are all hand made. Really nice find.

Thanks Greg. So do you think this could be 18th century?

I brought this to a neighbor who collects primitive tools and he thinks it is 18th century based on the nails and the iron rounds on the sides.
