This is my stumper for the night. I know very little about the story. But what I do know while my parents were traveling around during our time in Europe, the purchased these items from a guy on the side of the road, somewhere. Where? I have no clue. They kept these little trinkets in a cardboard box in the closet for fifty some odd years. I inherited these when my Dad passed away this past January. Pictures will inevitably end up sideways again.

If anyone has any idea what they are or where they originated from, I would be indebted. Guesses are welcome because it’s better than what I have right now.

Please know you will see a few bare butts in the pictures.

@Savannah 1954 - I see two (purported) turn-of-the-millenium Roman oil lamps, one of which has its own thumbnail:

I know shallow. Still trying to get a handle on this picture thing.

I thought that maybe those were oil lamps of some kind. Little dude has a couple of holes in his head too, but I don’t think he was an oil lamp. These little guys perplex me.

The two tiny vases are actually like a very thin glass or some other see through material. Very lightweight. I never cleaned them because I was afraid to touch them.

I'm sure some of this stuff could be ancient but during my sojourn in Selinunte, Sicily in the late 60's, the stuff I was offered by the local amateur "archaeologists" came from the local bakery just after the pizza came out ..

Hence the word, "purported," in my first reply. The look good from here, but I have cats walking in front of the monitor, so who can tell?

Exactly shallow. The glass unguentarium bottles are so lightweight they could not have been made easily without some type of expertise. I truly would not know where to begin to get them dated. They literally have been in a box in the closet for over 50 years. I had the bare butt dude on my coffee table until I worried he might get broken and buried him back in the box with his roommates.

Y'know. this stuff is probably OK but I don't think the pieces are very valuable as those Romans made tons of it and a lot survived ...I suppose from an academic standpoint it's interesting (if you have a place to display it) ..and a good conversation starter if Bob and Betty come over for tea ..

Right blooey. I never expect my husband will quit his day job because of anything we own. I honestly feel like a caretaker for all of the stuff I either purchased or inherited. It has lasted this long so, I take my job seriously in protecting it for future generations. I have already given tons to my five kids. They know they are now the caretakers.

Bob and Betty stopped coming over. They said our house was haunted.

I'm with the others on the Roman 'stuff'.
My thoughts exactly.:) It is my favourite.
The little dude looks pre-Columbian, maybe Veracruz, Mexico. But like with the other stuff, you need an expert to take a look at that.

The glass actually looks right for Roman - if it isn't, it's an OLD copy. They're not expensive, but I do like them.

The wee man may be European. There was a culture here that made them, I've forgotten who.

These look right for being truly old but you really need an expert to authenticate.

the oil lamps are probably originals. still available and found widely around the then civilized parts of Europe.calculus is clear - and also described in many books - two to three per room. so hundreds of millions around or thrown away.
the glasses or tear bottles look okay as well and point towards the south of Italy as well.
