Featured Rare Elephant Silver Pin Cushion.

Hi all....
Last week I bought a rare Silver pin cushion 1905 , I have wanted one of these for a long time.
The Standing Elephant pin cushions with the trunk down are common but this is the rarer Walking Elephant with the trunk up in the air.

However the little chap has a problem, About ¾ of his trunk is missing hence he was cheap.
Today I took him to my jeweller and he can fix his trunk, I have to wait 3 weeks but I'm SOOOO excited.
Here is a picture of him and below that a picture of an intact one by the same silver maker Levi & Salaman.

Intact examples of this little pin cushion are very expensive.

This jeweller has really good silver smiths so I'm hoping it will look like it did before.
I intend keeping it and I just can't wait to see the end result

Maybe it was meant to be a baby elephant, can you tell from the end of the trunk if it really was broken?

 

It was and then someone squashed the end together.
It definitely is supposed to have a full trunk like the second photo but it does look sweet like that.
If the jeweller had said he couldn't do it I still would have been happy with it

 

Well after waiting for over two weeks for the work to be done they just phoned me and said it can't be done.
Beats me why they didn't tell me that before....
I was so excited too

 

So sorry, Poison. Maybe another jeweller will be able to do it?

Don't understand it either. Did they say why?
It may not be as valuable without the longer trunk, but I think it still looks great as a cute baby elephant.

Maybe they could but I think I will leave it as is now.

I'm a bit put out that they gave me false hope.
They just said it isn't possible.
I do like it as it is though, it does look cute so I will still enjoy it, I will repair the cushion when I get it back
