    Thank you :)
I know Regency boxes have been around a very long time but it's such a shame that they're often in bad condition.

Much used by nimble hands. Every box comes with a history of women who made amazing things, whether for leisure or out of necessity. And you restore them with amazing knowledge and skill.

I like to think they will go on for a lot of years to come .....
It does make me wonder who owned them 200 years+ ago :)

Here are the before and after pics of the various stages.

    So.....
After stripping it out I found absolutely nothing, no hints of the original colour used, no clues as to the layout..... they did a GREAT job of obliterating everything.
I worked out the layout from boxes I have and looking on the net.
I had the antique Aqua fabric for years and although I don't know it's exact age it's exactly the same as some in another Regency box I have that's totally original so that was lucky.
I took inspiration for the silk thread tufts I put in the lid from another Regency box, the silk thread is antique too.
The little partitions I covered with paper just like the Georgians did and painted them in a shade that was popular back then.
I polished the outside and toned down the feet with patina paste.
    So there it is......finished :)

Lovely colour. Georgian paints were astonishingly vivid.

Thank you all, I try to get the colours as close as I can by matching the hidden bits that are underneath sections and never seen.
it all depends on the individuals settings and screens as to how it looks.
The fabric is more aqua than it seems in the photos.

    Thank you....
    Yes you're right, I hadn't thought of that :)
It kills me to think that original materials are just ripped out and probably binned........ Sacrilege :(
