Just picked this up in Bury. It's clearly a very modern repro but I just love the decor. Not sure if it's an ice bucket or a jardiniere perhaps. It stands at 18cm tall.

I have found the same one online. Must be the same manufacturer.

The listing says: "This Sanyo Pottery Ryumine Kiln Wine Cooler is a must-have for any collector of Japanese culture."
Does that mean it is used in the Ancient Japanese Wine Cooling Ceremony?:angelic:

Very very cultured and honourable wine drinking ceremony.

No lid on a wine cooler, if that's what you mean. A wine bottle sits in it.

Yes I agree. For some reason I read 'box' as 'lid'. I really can't explain how I managed that one. :bucktooth:

I’d say it’s very sharp looking! Imari is one of those things that I think modern pieces look really good still. A lot of modern repro stuff looks tacky and offensive but with its fresh gilt and popping colors I think good modern Imari can be really nice.

Yeah. The pattern/colour scheme has worked throughout the ages. RCD, spode and many others have used it to great effect.
