Three small rice paper paintings in an elaborate frame but I have no idea what kind of wood it is... any thoughts? Thanks!

Not sure but at a glance it looks pressed not carved.
    Someone else should know.

It looks like a composite to me - a Sirocco type thing - molded.

If you want to try ebay, go to COMPLETED sales. Anyone can ask a certain price, but it doesn't mean the item will sell. Ebay also doesn't police the site for errors, so people can identify something any way they want and it isn't necessarily truthful. That's why so many of us stopped posting over there.

I wonder if it was just a picture frame and someone pasted those images on the back. They don't look as if they were meant to be there. It does look like Sirocco.

The pictures are individual pictures slipped in behind those oval circles, no paste on them thankfully! The frame is very Asian in the artwork even if it is syrocco.

Other companies besides Syrocco used molded wood composites.

Doesn't look like Syrocco to me. Might be camphor wood carving. Pics are a bit washed out and hard to tell. Here is an example.

A close up of a portion from the back (including an edge) might help.

A close up of a portion from the back (including an edge) might help. How about that corner with the lettering?

The chips would indicate that it's wood rather than a composite, so maybe camphor wood is the way to go. The decoration seems too deep and sharp to be pressed IMO.
