Featured Rocking Chair

    Posting for a friend who pulled this from a dumpster as her crazy neighbor was throwing perfectly good things away.

    Oh yeah, lion heads on the arms, paws on the legs.

    reminds me of American Classical/Empire Revival

    I'd be betting on later Victorian goofy. (Goofy is an adjective not a design name) The Victorians mixed and matched earlier styles with great abandon.

    Ca. 1900 Empire Revival. A lot of this turning up lately for some reason. My guess would be mahogany, probably part of a parlor set including a sofa, arm chairs, and side chairs.

    Besides reupholstering, it looks like you could start using it now. Not much value, but this piece has wood construction and carving craftsmanship, things that are just not found anymore. You could not buy this quality new at any price
