I remember I bought this at a yard sale about 40 years ago. Probably didn't pay over $1 for it, but looking at the three "sold" ones currently listed on eBay, they aren't terribly valuable.

I've always thought Royal Copley is an underappreciated pottery. Their figural planters can be quite lovely and you can put a whole collection together for a song. Rarely see a piece with the factory flaws that plagued so many of their competitors. I've had the most luck with the bird planters but stopped buying it sometime ago because it was a slow mover and at a lower price point. I think it's just a case of too many pieces chasing too few collectors. The relatively short run of the company may also have hurt.

Very cute piece. I would have grabbed that one, too! :)
