Featured Royal Worcester Melon cracker jar

Yes that's what they are called apparently.. Another find from today..it's in really good condition given its age. One downside though is that the lid is missing. I wonder what my chances are of finding a replacement.

 

Pulled out my Kovel's, and that registration number dates to 1888. Possibly still made a bit later. I'd say the odds of a matching lid aren't good.

Also known as a biscuit jar. The glaze is ivory, and Worcester had another at the time which was know as peach ivory or peach blush. Afraid not only are you missing the lid, but there is also an underplate, too! I bought one with lid off ebay years ago and then noticed that the seller put the underplate in a separate auction, so I bought it, too, before anyone else thankfully!

 

Okay I will correct my listing. I noticed some have an under plate too. This seems to be absent quite frequently. It's also missing some chocolate digestives.

Its in near perfect condition apart from some wear to the gold borders. It cost £20 so I think I have a decent margin for a profit.. Failing that, I do really like it so it will be at home on my mantle piece.
