I picked this up from a flea market because it looked unusual. I noticed it was signed although I couldn't see by whom. Took a gamble for £8.
Anyway it turns out to be Sarpeneva which is a new name to me, made of bronze in Finland.
Am I correct in saying brutalist or is there a better term?. My googling suggests 70s but the dates are all a bit random.
Should I polish or leave it as it is? I'm quite liking it so it may yet be a keeper!
    Any information welcome.
    Thankyou
    :)

Well if that is Timo Sarpaneva you have a good thing I'd say ..he's well-respected.

I just found out it ain't him, it's by Pentti Sarpaneva. lots on google

Looks like it has an applied patina, you could touch up the high areas with a sunshine cloth.

    I'd call it Brutalist.

Turun Hopea produced many of the same Pentti Sarpaneva designs in silver, the earliest date found in a quick search for the same bracelet in silver was 1969 - Sarpaneva died in '78, but entirely possible his designs continued to be produced...

Personally, wouldn't polish it, looks as it should...

Agreed. It might be lacquered and polishing will really f it up.

This is my 1977 Turun/Sarpaneva spoon in the 'Pitsi' (Lace) pattern, I know it was still in production in the '90s:

.830 fineness. They made a lot of jewelry in the same pattern...

JMHO. leave as is. artists work with patina to give it more depth.
