set of wood carvings. any idea?

yes....resin casts are newer and made by the boatload..

 

Usually resin or other items made by a casting process would be less valuable, as they would be made in multiple copies. An item carved in wood or stone would be one-of-a-kind, and that would usually make it more valuable.
But there are exceptions; cast items made in bronze by a famous artist might be quite valuable; and there might be other cast items made in small numbers that a collector might be interested in, adding value.
And some genuine carved items, in stone or wood, are mass produced in countries where labor is cheap, so a hand-carved item from Indonesia for example could be worth only a few dollars.
The warrior or whatever he is, is a nice-looking statue, and would certainly have some value whether carved in wood or cast in another medium - I just wouldn't know what that value might be, exactly.
Before sinking it in water, I'd try rubbing a wet cloth on the bottom, to be sure the finish would not be damaged. If no color comes off, try rubbing the wet cloth on the back of the base, and if you are sure the finish won't be hurt, you could try putting it in water, first the base; you don't have to just drop it in. It should be pretty clear whether it is going to sink or float.
Dry it quickly and carefully, and I'd think it should be OK.
If others think it is a bad idea to put it in water, I'm sure they'll give their opinion also; there is no hurry.

 

Hey thanks allfakes that was some really nice piece of advise. even i do prefer the warrior pic. it is quite elegant. But only problem that im having it being unable to determine the origin or value of it.
