    Hi all,
I thought you might like to see what I did with this Edwardian Sewing Table I bought last year.
It was in a bad state but had potential.
The fabric I used was once a Victorian dress and I covered the stains in the wood with Victorian decoupage scraps. IMG_0048.JPG IMG_0040.JPG IMG_0042.JPG IMG_0043.JPG IMG_0049.JPG IMG_0050.JPG

    Beautiful!
I have an 1830s sewing table, an heirloom, with that pleated part missing. I bought some material to replace it, but never got round to it. Did you put a rectangular piece of wood in the bottom?

    Hi,
What I did was to cut 4 pieces of card for the sides and one for the bottom of the box.
I padded them all around and attached the fabric by sticking the edges down to the back of the card, No one sees that.
Hope that helps and here is a photo of the inside.

    Right, thanks for showing me.
Mine has rails underneath the table, so the pleated bag slides into those. I would have to make a wooden frame. Or preferably get someone to do it, my woodcrafting days are over. There is a sewing table just like mine in a castle nearby, I bought the same kind of material that one has (in the 80s), and was all prepared to restore it when my health deteriorated. Now I have to find someone who will do a good job for little money. Not very realistic, I know.

That's interesting, If I were close to you I would have been more than happy to help you with it.

If you could get the woodwork done by someone else would you be able to cover it?

I would love to see it :)
