Picked up this bracelet recently, as I thought the use of antique buttons interesting. No marks that I can find. Maybe made from a kit? Time frame? Origin? Have not tested it yet but how likely is this to be sterling? Have found others using buttons but none with the basic framework exactly like this. Buttons fit the frames perfectly and must be glued in.

Toggle clasps are generally fairly recent, nineties and on.

Thanks, I am finding none exactly like this. Seems like it is unlikely to be sterling if not very old.

I’m seeing a J.Crew or Abercrombie type piece

With antique buttons? Buttons are definitely antique.

Repro antique buttons are available on Etsy, so maybe there are similar ones there?

But there are some nice real ones, too.

I’ve seen similar blanks. So that makes sense.

Thanks! Consensus seems to be that this is fairly modern and made from a kit using antique buttons. Pretty much as I thought, though I was hoping for older ;)

Not a full blown kit, I think the artist would need to source cool antique buttons in good shape, glue carefully, etc. More of a craft. Yours does look a bit more substantial than the Etsy one, so if you have a easy way to test for silver, maybe do so. (Sometimes I just do a spot of polish, rather than a full blown test--if it's polishing like silver, then follow up.)

This style was on my radar because 15 years ago I saw a fabulous bracelet for sale someone made like this using old rhinestone earrings. For a while I thought about trying to make one myself, and did some research on the blanks.

It's a nice looking piece, I've always thought those old glass buttons were like jewelry, so this is a great repurpose. The Etsy seller was asking $54.
