Tricia, it looks to me like Ernst Treusch, Leipzig - German silver of 835 fineness, from the first half of the 20th century (1920's, 1930's?)

If you are unable to get to a grocery store, pharmacy, etc., you might try Colgate.

I plan to sell, should I just leave as is? and it's missing the top of one of the candle holders, unless it's supposed to be that way?

Tricia, I can't help with the missing piece, but please, DO polish it! (Silver should be polished!) A "gentle" silver polish would not be expensive to buy, and it is readily available at grocery, hardware and housewares stores. (Just please don't use any of the "harsh" silver dips, like Tarnex.)

If it is silver, Polish! Tarnish is NOT patina, and many people will not buy; there may be all kinds of problems hidden by the dreck!

Cannot help with the other problem as all three tops look different in the picture.

there are some dents that I can see, would it still be desirable with the missing cap and dents?

Polish. Remove the two tops. And add them into the write up as extras, if wanted. :)

Dimples, dahling! Never dents, unless it's a car. Unless they can be easily got rid of -- don't. But don't not mention them!

Tricia, I wouldn't mess with it. Some Treusch pieces demand some very nice prices.

Hold on for a bit and see what some of the people more familiar with European silver have to say.

    Treusch or Dare.

The Treusch of the matter is...

And the Treusch shall set you free

To tell the Treusch, this could go on forever! :)

Ok, I'm going to buy some Polish, but I'll wait to clean it.. I'm so excited this is my first piece of silver I've come across.. only paid $1.50 for it... a few months ago I passed up a triple coated silver set.. I literally went 2 steps away decided to take it and someone bought it..

I would like to meet whoever the hell it was, who decided that polishing silver is a bad idea.

I would then like to punch him in the face.

Silver SHOULD BE POLISHED. As the others have said. That's whole damn reason people BUY silver! For the silvery shine! So polish it! If you expect to sell it, it has to be polished.

If you don't have silver-polishing paste, diluted toothpaste (just get warm water, toothpaste, rub it on your hands, and then rub it onto the silver by hand) should do the trick. Take it into the shower with you along with a tube of toothpaste and scrubb-a-dub-dub.
