    Hi all,
I picked up 4 nice little pieces today, the best one is the Oliver Richard Kestell spoon, 1840-1860 time period in Toronto. I don't find much early Canadian stuff, I think I have 3 other spoons so this will be number 4. I can't find information on him/company other than what I posted above.
Next are 2 pieces by William Eley and William Fearn London -
(1804) one is a sifter, 4 1/2"L, maybe for sugar?
(1821) little spoon is 4"L, has a black spot on it that doesn't seem to want to polish off - any suggestions?
Last is a small spoon, 3 3/4"L, the marks are quite worn, looks like a crown and a lion with raised front paws? Canadian? No idea on what the other mark is or should be. Also has some black marks that don't want to clean off.
    any information appreciated.
    Thanks for looking:)

The black spots are usually salt damage, it reacts with the silver to form silver chloride, this will wash of but if left too long it forms a crater that you are stuck with unless you really stick at the polishing, which you may or may not consider worth doing.

A murrain on some careless servant, long ago!

The spoon in the 5th photo down looks like it has a lot of pits, possibly porosity and polishing it may not help.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I would be thinking that 'holey' spoon might be for a tea bag.........? (OR to sprinkle confectioners sugar??)

thanks Aquitaine:) I was thinking sugar too, but maybe tea? It is from 1804, I don't know if they had teabags then or just loose tea?
    edited: lol, now I know:)
teabags were first used in 1904 according to wiki
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_bag
introduced in the UK in 1953
