Hi all. Found this recently and bought it not knowing what the heck it was but loving the weirdness. Its 13 inches long.Alleged to be a Bolivian silver topo pin. Im having a problem pinning down age.No marks at all.Im assuming its silver because the few online are said to be. Any input is always welcome.

Does it actually have a pin mechanism in the back?

I was thinking a decoration for a potted plant.

For the age, I wonder if they still make them so as traditional hand made, only the patina can say if old or not...

It's great-any clues as to what's happening to the GW's in your area ? The great charity (?) machine melting down, like HAL in 2001 ?

Which it is.:) The spoon shaped tupu is the type worn by the Aymara, who live in Bolivia and part of Chile. Yours is a very nice one.

I have several tupus, both from Bolivia and Peru, but find dating them very difficult. Yours could be 19th century, but I am not sure. You could send a photo to a specialised museum department.
