Me too.
I usually can remember what the house looked like at a sale where I got an item, who the estate sale runner may have been where I got an item and how much I paid for treasures, but I can not remember names of people or how much I paid for groceries. LOL

Thank you - like almost all my silver, packed up right now, though quite a few of the boxes are readily available at the moment. Figure it will be at least a year before I get all renovations, etc. taken care of (probably longer) - then I'll be able to get them out again, will probably feel like they're fresh finds...

Napkin rings were not really known before the early 19th century, mention of them appearing around the 1830s - in American silver, probably started showing up around the 1850s, and appearing in 1860s catalogs, so the earliest I have are American coin silver. This oblong unmarked coin ring probably dates around the mid 1860s, Soeffing's 'Silver Medallion Flatware' (1988) doesn't show this head, but having found very similar marked examples, believe it was likely made by S.D. Brower & Son of Albany, NY:

So, this pair, stamped 'S.D. BROWER & SON', is described as in "Excellent condition", with no "modifications" or "alterations" - but they're "soldered to the silver-plated base stands"... Seriously?
