Silverplate Basket & Glass Oil Lamp

    Couple of pieces i need some help to identify.


    1. Silverplate bride's basket, measures 11 5/8" wide and is 13 3/8" tall including the handle. Marked on the base with a star and what look like the beginning of Baltimore. name looks like J A Eis?


    2. Glass oil lamp, with a nice ring to it, possibly flint glass? Measures 9 3/4" tall, 3 1/4" wide at the top and 4" wide at the base.

    There was a Wm. J. Eisenhardt in Baltimore in the 1880's. Listed in the city directory as a silverplater in 1887 and 1888, according to Rainwater. Maybe a relation.

    The silver plated basket is probably missing a glass bowl. Often referred to as bride's baskets.

    Investigate whale oil lamps. Looks like the right shape. You are missing the collar, but you can get new ones. They are put on with plaster of paris. Don't use the new glues.
