Simmons metal dresser

I'm seeking the date of origin and other information about my Simmons 4 drawer dresser. Thank you in advance.

 

1920s traditional design with faux wood grain. As has been discussed here previously, this is not the type of Simmons furniture coveted by collectors. In general, the sleek modern designs by Norman Bel Geddes and similar are the pieces most in demand. However, the market for even this is soft in most areas of the country. Urban areas seem to show the most demand and, then, if stripped to bare metal or the original Bel Geddes designs in good original condition.

 

i have a simmons furniture metal twin bed - not in the best condition. its a green color - label says b142 or 3142. any ideas what the value would be and should i strip it, paint it, or leave it as is?

Not much demand for the beds. Paint to your taste if you intend to use it.

Hello k gordon. When I first obtained the simmons dresser it also showed signs of once having sort of a chalky light green mint coloring. Unfortunately, it was left in a brief yet significant rain storm wherein the color apparently washed away. I found that strange.

Sounds like "acid rain" to remove paint.
