I have an antique bisque headed Simon & Halbig doll 25", which appears to be from the early 1900s. If anyone knows a little bit about the brand or this particular doll, please feel free to share any information you have.

Hi DJace! What a beautiful face.
What you need to show is the mark on the back of the head. You should also remove the clothes to show the type of body and condition. It could be just the picture, and it probably is, but the arms look very small....and the feet a lighter color....but there again it could just be the picture.

@judy I took the clothes off and the body seems to be in "OK" condition, although she has been played with a lot. She has a piece of cloth hanging from her right plait. This may be some hair tie, but I am not sure. The balls of her feet are slightly chipped, and her little finger on the right hand has been chipped off. The apparent inconsistencies in the coloring are just down to the pictures. Apart from that, I would say she's OK. I'm sure there are better judges of that than me, though. The mark on the back of her head is 1909-6, and she has the number "56" on her arm. Here are a couple of pictures:

Hi Djace......I believe your doll is by Schoenau & Hoffmeister.

Check out this doll on eBay.....

The body looks right. It's difficult to tell from the picture if it's made of compo or wood, but I'm sure you can make that determination, having her in hand.

The mark is published in Coleman's Encyclopedia of dolls.

@judy Yes, it appears you are right on the make. I suppose it is easy to confuse the two since they are abbreviated the same way.

That doll is very similar to mine. I still haven't found that exact one yet. I have a feeling it's because that doll may have been kept in the same family for a very long time.

You may never find the exact same mold #. Heads get broken, and perhaps that mold wasn't produced a lot. You can get a good idea of what she is worth by checking out other S & H dolls....size, condition, etc. will help you.

Not sure. Wonder if looking at the interior of her head because looks like 2 thingies parallel to each other that might be holding the eyes?
