Hi there. I’m hoping to find info on a door lock skeleton key I have that has Theo G. Gabriel stamped on it.
Could that have been a manufacturing company? (Can’t find it on Google if it was.)
Did folks used to get their names engraved on keys?
I’ve been searching different keywords for a few days now and have come to post here in hopes for mature, educated, well thought out knowledgeable replies.

Welcome Sugar Plum-I love 'Haunted Object' & mystery stories & a skeleton key's a great vehicle for both !
Here's an enjoyable Wikipedia site you might get a kick out of-John Zaffis is the dean of haunted objects in the U.S.-you might be able to find reruns of his shows 'Haunted Collector' & 'Haunted Objects' on YouTube.

it got stuck in your jeans because of the way the end is formed......so it caught on some threads or fabric.........and dislodged ...when it did..... no mystery.

When I wore my jeans with big cuffs......the stuff I'd find in the cuffs....amazing !!!
I finally figured out where that gram of hash ended up !!!!!!:hilarious::hilarious:

Of course then he'd 'confiscate' what was left of our sixer & tell us - "Go strait home,I know yer folks !'...and he did know 'em.

    Great show.
Do you know if people used to get their names engraved on their keys or if this Theo G. Gabriel was a key manufacturer?

Nope. No cuffs on my jeans, and I had also worn them the day prior.
So do you know if people used to get their names engraved on their keys or if this Theo G. Gabriel was a key manufacturer?

I'd also guess it'd be a manufacturer or company name.

Maybe that's the name of a business. Skeleton key size could indicate what it was used for. Like small ones are for jewelry boxes. Large ones would be to open large doors or gates to a business. All just speculation on my part.

    what size is the key?
doesn't look big enuf for a gate or door......rather a chest or box of a sort..

Yes, I was thinking possibly a business name, however, web searches haven’t provided any hints as to that name being a manufacturing company. I came here to post my questions because I thought this was a serious collector site.

Oregon by chance? I found a Theodore George Gabriel who lived there in retirement. But he was from Chicago and worked in various metal manufacturing companies - including Revere.
