Hi guys I picked this up the other day and wondered whether it was worth opening up to check for a signature, is the work good enough quality to bother?

It looks quite good to me that’s why I picked it up. As you can see there is damage to the woman’s face. I guess there’s a slim chance that was intentional by the artist?

Anyway what do you guys think?

    thanks

I don't see damage to the woman's face. Where is it?

The texture of the paper is worn around her right cheek as you look at the painting @Debora

Is it signed in the black?

Ah. Hard to see in photo. I assume it's ink on paper. Sketch pad size? You might want to open it up and see what you find. Dryden has been at that location since 1981. Works with phone.

No I don't think so but great eyes, I just took another look and it's just scratchings I'm 99 percent sure.

Yes I may open it up, it's the right thing to do but I find myself a little reluctant to after spending a fortune framing a bunch of stuff the other day lol

I cannot exactly tell what sort of art I am looking at, probably because it's still behind glass, but it looks like an etching that the artist went back with india ink on it? And perhaps dripped a drop of ink on her nose? Is that what I am looking at in damage too?
