No idea on maker - just wanted to say "WOW! That is a beautiful lamp shade!"

    Hi Bstaugler!

    Welcome to Antiquers.......:cat:

I have one like yours anyway.....at least similar as I haven't compared the frame work.

My base is different, and do not believe it's original to the shade.

To me it doesn't matter. I have about 6 slag glass lamps and I doubt if any of them have the original base. I too have but ONE Handel, and I don't care if it's on the original base or not......the beauty is in the shade....IMHO. slaglamp1.jpg slagbase.jpg

Thank you. I love them myself.

I counted the number of slag glass lamps I have......8 lamps, one ceiling fixture.:)

This is all very helpful. And beautiful lamp Judy. This is my first slag lamp although I’d been eyeing them for years.

    Some beautiful lamps here!

Komo, usually the maker would pair a certain base with a certain shade, especially when there's a theme like your Egyptian base. They would usually design the base and shade to complement each other. Lamps that keep the shade and base together over time usually command the highest prices.

That said, your base certainly looks good with several different shades. Like the others, I've got a "married" lamp or two, and the fact is one of them looks far better with the (new) antique base as opposed to its original base. In sum, after 100 years or so I think a little mix and match is perfectly fine, so long as all parties are aware of it.

    Thanks Pal !!
I was kinda thinking that...but we see so many lamps with so many shades, so I guess after a few decades...a couple of moves....and couple more sales...... that shades and bases that once were original are now all gerfuplebopped !!!!!
    :wacky:;)
