I would like some help figuring out exactly what this is. It looks like it might be 1/2 of an incense burner or maybe a bowl for a condiment or salt. It is very small, 1" tall and 1 1/2" wide. It is supported on 3 sides by dragons. I am assuming it is from china. It was being sold as an incense burner and I bought it for about $10-$15 at little consignment shop in Vicksburg, Michigan. I would like to find out what the hallmarks represent. I took pictures of the hallmarks through my map reader and from different perspectives, I didn't know which way was up for the characters. The mark on the left appears to be 足银 (pure silver) in Chinese, can't make out the one on the right, sorry. It looks ok, but needs to be tested to be sure, there are lots of faked Chinese silver items around.

Thanks for the info. I have access to an XRF I will check the silver content with that.

I am curious - where do you get those handheld XRF scanners from?? I've wanted one for years!

In the UK the usual suspects supply them like Fisher, Hitachi and Olympus. They are still very expensive though, cheapest new one I've seen was £18k.
