This small box has a polished exterior but a rough interior, so I think it is bone. After much effort with a sunshine cloth, the real silver edging appeared from the black. The top has a bird decal that appears oriental in style. The closure is in the shape of a bow, which does not seem to fit the bird - I am going to guess there were many different decals that may have fit the bow better. It is so small (2 3/4 inch long X 1 inch wide by 1 inch tall),
I can't fathom it's purpose. It has no mark. I was intrigued enough to bring it home and ask you all for comments. I have hopes that it might be something interesting, but you know what an optimist I am.
