    Hello Everyone,

I got these old mugs, they are reall small, about 3 inch (7,5cm). I'm wondering if anyone has ever seen these kind of mugs before and can tell me something about the origin and age. I think they are german because of the design, but I'm not sure at all.

Any sign of threading around the top, as in missing a screw on piece? They remind me some salt & pepper shakers we had once ..........................

Thanks for the replies! They're not magnetic. No, there is no threading at al, I don't believe that they're incomplete. I believe they are meant to be like this. Any other clues? There's a welding line on both sides by the way.

This looks like a miniature toby/character brass tone mug. There is one on eBay at the moment. It isn't the same face but has identical handle and base.

Have included an edited pic of yours: cropped and enlarged. The hat/helmet on yours looks a bit like the dress plumed helmets/hats (without the plumes/feathers) worn by the Austrian military back when. I thought at first it might be Emperor Franz Joseph, but he doesn't have the "mutton chops" like Franz had.

Thanks for your reply Susan! Definetly looks like mine and I really think they're from the same manufacturer. Unfortunatly the ebay page doesn't give away much information either. I guess it's just 20th century?

The following eBay auction has several brass tone toby/character mugs of different suzes. 2 of them are like yours. Believe its a Canadian eBay auction. Do note they all seem to have the same handle. The 4th pic shows the ones like yours. I feel yours is depicting a military personage. I now think he suppose to be a British General like Gordon of Khartoum fame, Lord Kitchener, etc.... For the life of me, I can't find a maker of these brass tone ones.

Yes, this is indeed the exact same mug. This really wondering when these were made and in which country. But I guess we won't find that. Thanks for the effort.
