Hoping the experts here can help with this little covered box. Lightweight with tight grain wood in a honey color, black "steeple" finial and 3 ball feet. About 5 3/4" tall to the top of the steeple, 3 1/4" diameter at its widest. Any idea on age or origin?
    Thanks so much!

JMHO, of course, but I'm not seeing any particular signs of significant age?
(Not an area of expertise for me... I'm curious to see what others will say.)
I would call it a turned wood jar, rather than box, but I know I'm splitting hairs.
    It is very attractive.

It isn't very old, just in an older style.

Think bosko meant following up on what you said, but directed at OP.

I don't know the first thing about it. Now, can I have it please? I love turned wood bowls & jars.

I don't think it's deeply aged, but doubt that it's contemporary...could easily have 50 to 80 years on it. Like Bronwen...me wantin'!

I got a bit hooked after buying a lidded vessel made in 1992 by Michael Mode. I remember choosing between 2 favorites by closing my eyes & selecting the one that felt better in my hands. I also sniffed to find out if wood still had any fragrance. No, but Michael told me a blind client had done that too.

So here are some close-up photos. Note that the color is off - way off. I've lightened the photos so you can better see the "age" of the wood. In person it looks exactly like my original photos. The box had a lot of cobwebs and spider eggs on it. I've not polished it, just wiped off the spidery stuff.

It may be new, but the shape looks Georgian to me.

Look at Regency knife boxes, or cutlery urns.
