    Found this among a ton of old photographic equipment today.
    Its how they put the rosy cheeks and lips on the prints.

    Hand tinting stuff from the Stone Age? I've never seen the pigments on the hoof before, as it were.

    According to the British Museum, these are 1900 -1909

    Davey, those are really interesting.

    I remember using those little "blender stick thingies" (what are they called???) with charcoal, in art classes when I was a kid.

    Is any one of the colors more used than the others? (I'm thinking rosy pink - for cheeks & all.)

    Very cool!

    Are the colors like chalk sticks, or are they powders?
    The reason I ask, I see color on the cloth.

    I used to color tint photos for a photo studio. Our colors were dabs of color on glass, then used the finest of brushes. Used to slightly dampen the brush and mix the colors. Slightly dampen - means licked the brush.
