Silassie Tukai is the artist on this one. Inukjuak, passed away 1994.

Both carvings are good ones but are unrelated other than coming from the same collection.

No advantage in removing the sticker on #1, in fact I would advise against it as we already know all there is to know from the artists name.

    Agree.

Also, that's a big second piece--again, nice find!

Also also, can't imagine killing a bear w a knife. So maybe it's a post-mortem scene? I think adult polar bears are huge?

I'm wondering if the animal might be an ocean critter instead of a bear. Maybe a seal/porpoise/baby whale? Hard to tell from the pictures but was thinking perhaps the rather stubby legs/paws are flippers instead.

Thank you all so much for the feedback. I'm fascinated by the information shared here. Learning the names of the carvers (Thanks Mark London / Blooey for reading / deciphering the syllabics!) has allowed me to search other examples of their work and find pieces that exhibit similar characteristics to mine. This has been a very satisfying experience and I'm grateful to the kind people here for sharing what they know. It allows me a deeper connection to the work.
Here's a peek at another work I found by Silassie Tuki that looks a little like mine...
