Hi! Does anyone know the origin of this trunk, or what HSS stands for?

Possibly shipping or navy related? Purchased in New Brunswick, Canada.

    See photo.

    Thank You!

    You're welcome Justin.

Unfortunately I can't help with your chest, but I'm wondering if the initials might be those of the original owner.........Wait for others to respond.............

Greetings, Justin! Can we see the inside to get clues about purpose from the configuration and also get measurements? Sometimes the monogrammed ones were carpenter's tool boxes, although this one is so pristine I would say this was probably a repaint job.

Also stands for military, HSS High-speed Sea Service as in HSS Explorer but I don't know if this is related to ferries.

No doubt a "carpenter's tool box" A view inside would confirm it, in the UK these are very sort after and good ones can go for big money.
