    "Splotched" in this case is "crystaline glaze."

    We need a clear view of a splotch. It may be a crystalline glaze. Other threads have been posted showing other examples. I've heard it's a difficult effect to achieve. The examples that have been shown here have been recent and from China.

    In a minor way, but that vase is only 5" tall, this one was said to be "tall"..? taller?

    There's some nice crystal development.

    The Chinese don't have a lock on the glaze or the process. I'm guessing you are looking at a studio potter there, but I don't know who.
