Why do you date the stereoview of the two women to the 1880s?

The size, "imperial" or "cabinet" style. About a half inch taller than standard. Seems to have started mid 1870's or so and into the 1880s-1890s. Thinner card stock makes me think in the 1880s or before.

Interesting. I'd have thought earlier from the women's clothing and hair but it couldn't be earlier than 1875. Waterstown has a historical society. Suspect they'd be interested in seeing your stereoview and could, perhaps, identify location.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Wow, I love this one, too.

It's quite an interesting scene. Here it is with the color heavied up a bit. A bit hard to see what's taking place. Would/could you post a photograph of the other side please? The quality at left isn't great on this side.

The large circular thing is what I was told was called a
journey to Jerusalem. You find them frequently on the floors or piers of cathedrals, hey are a simple maze. If you follow the path with your finger, it will lead, unbroken, to the center of the circle. It's a symbolic pilgrimage. There are prayers, and I don't know what, to be said as you progress.
