    Hi,
Trying to find out who made this bracelet. I've tried AK and HK and not finding anything. I'm not sure what the stone/centre piece is, it is 1 1/4"L, feels like plastic, not bakelite and I don't believe amber.
    Any information appreciated
    thanks for looking

The stone looks quite similar to what is in some large vintage Himalayan beads I have. I was told it was an early type of faux amber. :writer::turtle:

I need to rummage. That mark is similar to something I bought as Native American a few years back.

Looks like a student/hobbyist piece,I have never seen a NA piece with diagonal wire cut and left hanging over the edge on the 2 side pieces.

I agree; it was made by an artisan/hobbyist/dude in a shed. The "stone" could be bakelite. Dip a wet q-tip in some baking soda and rub it on the stone and hold it close to your nose. If the q-tip turns brown and/or you smell formaldehyde...bingo. Rotten milk is galaith, but if anything I'd think bakelite or catalin to be technical about it. I have some yellow pieces that look similar.

Thanks for all the replies folks:)
Could be a faux amber, looks very similar to your pieces Bronwen.
Must be the angle of the photo as it does look like they hang over the edge but they don't - the ends are smooth against the bracelet.
    The stone isn't bakelite.
    Hope you find yours bear.

The only AK I can find is Allen Kee, a very different signature, though, and very different style.

The cabochon could be egg yolk amber, did you test it in any way?
Here is info, don't use any of the invasive methods, of course.

Egg yolk amber is one of the most sought after amber colours. It can have swirls. Here is a Baltic dark egg yolk amber cabochon in one of my Latvian brooches:

Himalayan faux amber generally copies copal, which was used in old Himalayan jewellery.
Copal is half fossilized tree resin. It is a stage before it becomes amber, which is fully fossilized. It is sometimes called 'young amber'. Like amber, copal can be opaque or translucent.

Just remembered, I recently got this necklace with graded pendants from Lithuania. It shows more of the different patterns in egg yolk amber, Baltic again:

My apologies, today is not the day for focused photos, funny head.:sorry:

There is also butterscotch amber, for those with a sweet tooth.:playful:
And cherry amber, cognac amber. Never mind gemstone, amber is all about food and drink.;)

I did this morning:) Here are a couple of photos under a blacklight, it passed the static test and didn't become sticky with acetone which is also a pass. I'm not sure about the blacklight though - any thoughts on the colour under the light?

    those are very pretty AJ!

    Thank-you AJ:)
What do you think on this little bug - attached with a piece of metal rather than glue. Passes the static and acetone test also.

Wonderful, what you've got is a classic Baltic amber bug. They made a lot of those in the 50s and 60s, spiders too. This one could be a bit older. I think they are from the USSR (Baltic states), maybe Poland.
The amber is egg yolk, so worth something.

Thanks again AJ:) I'm glad it isn't a spider, they creep me out.
