Featured Sterling hair comb

    The pitting....the rough jagged flow of the outer form,,,,the creases near the bottom where the shading shows a different plane......I don't recognize these elements from sheet silver......or hammered coin silver......but castings that I know of ...show these signs.

    There seems to be a ridge on the inner left interior of the inverted heart.
    I don't know a cutting tool that can leave that mark.

    The outside left top of the heart ....the design falls off the metal.
    Any tool working there would fall off the side and leave a scar. But there's none.

    If 22 gauge and "cast" would date it to sometime after the mid 1940's.The design is not primitive,though it does have aspects of late 18th century Europe and North American designs.The photo of the back looks like the metal was overheated and not cast. The only real mystery is the "wandering path" design on the bottom front side.
