It looks like a 20th century amateur piece.

thanks, but the canvas seems to be old. Probably the end of the 19th beginning of the 20th century?

It could have been painted over an older painting. But I am sure others will be along who know more about old canvas.

Agree an amateur piece (by someone more industrious than inspired.) Given roses and their treatment, I would think post-World War II.

No, there is evidence that still life definitely existed before the Second World War (picture from Kaliningrad).

But in any case, with this level of painting it does not matter))

I am curious... If you knew the approximate age of your item, why did you not share that information with us?

SSlava, I agree with Debora, it helps if you give us as much information as possible.:)
We don't know if that is a great loss.;)

The picture is prewar. But how old is not known. It is unlikely that the subject is very old? Most likely the beginning of the 20th century))?

with this level of painting, I think age is not important))?

Jivvy the research is my favorite

@SSlava has removed the images from this thread. I think that's what @Bakersgma was talking about.

It's very annoying when you come late to the thread.

Exactly, Jivvy. They were there and then they disappeared after AJ and Debora posted. If you don't want comments, don't post to begin with.

Flower still lives as a subject are old, but they are still being painted. It was painted in the style of 17th century Dutch paintings like this one, just not this quality:

Ahh, I see. Yes, that is frustrating.
@SSlava , if you don't want people outside the forum to see your thread, you can post it in the 'General Discussion' forum. That is only for members.

Yes, but those are modern roses.
