Stone Bowl

    Two handles on the sides but they are small and too uncomfortable to hold.

    it looks to my untrained eye like the kind of stone found in Mexico, i once watched a program where they used a larger stone and smaller one for grinding corn to a flour consistency, for making taco shells.

    Does look like Mexican lava. Usually seen as a molcajete or the traditional mortar & pestle. Here's a more modern usage too.

    could be a granite pan for old wood stoves. the rim prevents it from coming to near to the flames. for simmering.
